Members will have already received notification of the AGM. Hopefully some of you will be joining us online for the meeting and that a few of you might even be considering joining the Committee. Please respond to keeper@lighthouses.org.au

Current non member Bulletin subscribers are warmly encouraged to become more actively involved in the Protection, Preservation and Promotion of the Lighthouses of Australia. 

By following this link www.lighthouses.org.au/lights/Membership/Membership.asp  you can read our Charter which summarises our aims and functions as an incorporated group and maybe even make an online application for membership or download and complete a membership application form. CLS 4 Carpentaria Carpentaria Lightship Open
Commonwealth Lightship No. 4, Carpentaria, warned of hazards from the Gulf of Carpentaria to Bass Strait. Now retired it is a museum piece at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, Sydney. The Maritime Museum are opening it to the public for one day only in September.
Sugarloaf Point Sugarloaf Point Accommodation
The keepers' cottages at Sugarloaf Point, on the mid-north coast of NSW have recently been renovated, and are now open to the public..

 

 

Interview - John Cook, Lightkeeper
John Cook was one of Australia's longest serving lightkeepers. His time at the lighthouses around Tasmania was the focus of an ABC documentary in 2003 called "Keepers of the Light". The passion he held for the lighthouse service came through strongly in that story. The ABC have another short interview on their website.
Cape Borda Cape Borda 150th
Cape Borda Lighthouse reached the grand milestone of 150 years on July 13. Celebrations will be held on Kangaroo Island on Saturday 4th October 2008.
