North Ronaldsay – Orkney's most northerly outpost – is considered remote even to other Orcadians. The Dennis Head beacon, built in 1789, is slowly deteriorating and faces an uncertain future.
A shore sale: Italy saves lighthouses on the rocks
FOR SALE: early 18th-century lighthouse, built 1709, inactive since mid-19th century, in need of renovation. Property consists of square cylindrical white stone tower 20 metres (66ft) high on arched base. Great views.
