 Los Faros de Cuba - Cuban Lighthouses - Part I
LoA Inc South Australia representative, Garry Searle, finds an excuse to visit Cuba to see some lighthouses, and discovers that they are not as easy to get to as he'd hoped, with obstacles such as language barriers, hurricane-damaged roads and military restrictions preventing him from seeing Cuba's lighthouses.
 Cape Schanck photo shoot
Steve Merson and Denise Shultz, along with Max & Doug Huxley, lighthouse kids from the 1940s, star in a documentary filmed at the Cape Schanck Lighthouse, as part of the History Channel's Revival series.
 Hope for Tasman Island
LoA Inc Tasmanian representative, Christian Bell, takes a flying visit to Tasman Island off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, to see firsthand the maintenance efforts being made, and reports on what further efforts are required to preserve this lonely lighthouse and its dilapidated cottages. In April 2006, visits to the island may be possible for the light's 100th Anniversary. 
 Pharology 101 - The Character of the Light
In the fourth instalment in the Pharology 101 lessons, Denise Shultz educates us on the the various methods used to make the character of lighthouses distinguishable from one another.

  Cape Jaffa Platform saved
Recently, the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Platform (Civil Liability) Bill was passed through both the Lower and Upper Houses of the South Australian Parliament, leading the way to the saving of the Cape Jaffa Platform.
  Split Point official opening
In early November, Kristie Eggleston attended the much anticipated official opening of the Split Point Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet in Victoria. LoA Inc has been following efforts to open the light since 1997, and is pleased that this icon of the Great Ocean Road has finally opened its doors to visitors.
  Wadjemup Lighthouse official opening
In early November, Pauline O'Brien attended the official opening of Rottnest Island's main lighthouse, now known as the Wadjemup Lighthouse. This becomes the third lighthouse in Western Australia open to the public.
  Tackling an environmental pest on Goose Island
Goose Island is overgrown with weeds planted by the lighthouse keepers a hundred years ago, and efforts are continuing to restore the island to a more natural habitat. Christian Bell, LoA Inc Tasmanian representative, and member of the Marine and Coastal Communities Network visited the island in September.

 Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Anniversary relighting
The National Trust of South Australia is celebrating the 30th anniversary since the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse was brought ashore and reassembled at Kingston SE. Permission has been granted to relight the beacon at sunset.

 Red Light of Palm Beach
The Red Light of Palm Beach is the second book of a lighthouse quartet written by Jervis Sparks, who with his with wife Bridget lived at Barranjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach in Sydney for 30 years. This book is the story of some of the keepers who served at that lightstation over the years, and is beautifully illustrated with more than 150 historical photos and images.
 Montague Island Lighthouse open for overnight stays
Mark Westwood, NPWS tour guide to Montague Island, writes to advise that the Head Keeper's cottage on the island is now available for overnight stays, in an arrangement made with Conservation Volunteers Australia.

 Beacons By The Sea : Stories of Australian Lighthouses Exhibition
The Beacons By The Sea touring exhibition presented by the National Archives of Australia is now on show at the Queensland Maritime Museum in Brisbane until the end of January 2006.
