Search for Old Lantern

Along the northern coast of NSW are five small lighthouse, built of a similar design. Four of the lighthouse remain today at Fingal Head, Richmond River (Ballina), Crowdy Head and Tacking Point (Port Macquarie). The fifth tower bore the signature of James Barnet, the well known designer of NSW lighthouses in the last half of the 19th century. It was built at the heads of the Clarence River at Yamba but was demolished in 1956 after a taller, replacement tower had been built.

A group of local enthusiasts are now trying to locate the lantern room of the original lighthouse, which they believe is still in existance.
